The Continued Criminality of Selling Sex: A Trajectory of South African Sex Work Law Reform

Abstract This article explores the regulation of sex work in South Africa and follows trajectory African Law Reform Commission (SALRC) investigating whether should be decriminalized. The legal is a hotly contested topic. currently criminalizes selling buying sex, but policy reform has been on cards since SALRC launched its project topic early 2000s. As most responses are grounded feminist theory, analyses main theoretical ideologies questions influence these structuring law context. author calls for more inclusive understanding feminism work, need to acknowledge importance rights discourse furthering political growth protecting workers’ constitutional rights.
